Essential Items to Pack When You’re Heading Away

If you’re heading away over the holiday period, you’ll need to be organised. Preparation and careful packing are essential for any successful outdoor adventure.

Whether or not you are camping with the family, or heading away on a road trip, you’ll need to pack plenty of supplies and if you are travelling by car, you’ll no doubt have limited space.

We’ve put together a checklist for you to check off next time you’re heading away:

Bedding

  • Sleeping bag
  • Sheets and or extra blankets
  • Air mattress
  • Pillows
  • Air pump
  • Repair kit (just in case!)
  • Tarp

Don’t leave your personal items scattered throughout the tent. They’ll get dirty and you will never be able to find what you’re looking for!

Instead, use one of the Ezy Storage solutions tubs to keep your items tucked away tidily. You can even use the tub as a little side table to store all of those quick and easy items you need access to like your books or phone.

Kitchen

  • Large bottle of water
  • Esky
  • Matches
  • Portable stove
  • Fire lighters
  • Newspaper
  • Paper towel
  • Foil
  • Garbage bags
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Reusable bowls, plates and cutlery
  • Fry pan
  • Tongs
  • Veggie peeler
  • Basic food supplies: long-life milk, coffee, bread, cereal, veggies, snacks and meat

If you head away often, why not have a storage box of supplies ready to go. It will save you having to gather the essentials every time!

Remember not to leave food out or you might have some unexpected visitors at night! We recommend storing all kitchen items including food in one of Ezy Storage’s weather-proof storage containers. These sturdy containers will ensure your goods are protected from moisture and dirt.

Cooking a meal on the campfire also means there will be dishes to do, particularly if you’re camping in an environmentally friendly way. Grab one of our flexi tubs to use as a makeshift sink. You’ll have the dishes sparkling clean in no time!

Clothes

  • Shoes
  • Jeans
  • PJs
  • Shorts
  • T-shirts
  • Socks
  • Jumper
  • Underwear
  • Swimwear
  • Wet weather gear
  • Dresses/skirts

Pack all of your items in a suitcase. If you hate that stale smell that sometimes occurs, consider adding a soap in a sock into your luggage. This should keep everything smelling fresh.

Miscellaneous items

  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellant
  • Lantern & extra batteries
  • Mosquito coils
  • Fold-out chairs
  • Radio
  • Books/magazines
  • Sunglasses
  • Hats
  • First aid kit
  • Towels
  • Tissues
  • Torch
  • Notepad
  • Umbrella
  • Scissors

The Ezy Storage multi-purpose tubs are the perfect solution for those odd shaped items. The snap lock lids ensure that all of your items are secure and there will be no nasty leakages!
